I have planed to do this trip for a while. The weather was not great but this is winter season
in the Cape so we made the best of it. The start we had a nice down steam paddle for about 5.0 km
until we reached the point where we stayed at the cottage next to the river where. We had a nice
breakfast. I continued doing the rest of the trip on my own as my canoeing buddy could not go on
due to an existing arm injury. The last few km was tough because I was paddling against the stream
due to the tide coming in. Better planning next time. This trip was a personal record for me for
covering a total distance of 12.6km. This is very short compared to the distance covered during the annual
Windhoek Berg River Canoe Marathon that is
taking place ,this year, between 13 and 16 July. This happens to be their 50th year anniversary.
